GOTTTA DANCE: THE ART OF THE DANCE MOVIE POSTER is a uniquely designed, 178-page visual extravaganza, with 102 lavishly colored images of dance movie posters from twelve countries — the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Argentina, Spain, Poland and Japan. These international posters represent the best and most inspired images for specific English-language films, regardless of where they were created. It illuminates how dance has been used in presenting both musical and non-musical films and was conceived for a wide audience of artists, dancers, graphic designers, film enthusiasts and the general public who appreciate beautiful art. Its accompanying text takes a contemporary approach, combining historical information, interpretive analysis and pertinent anecdotes.

GOTTA DANCE: THE ART OF THE DANCE MOVIE POSTER began as an 18-poster show in 2011 at the Second TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood. The wow reactions over that four day period led to five self-perpetuating exhibits over the next four years, (see introduction). At each exhibit, inquiries were made about a book and catalogue. When Jacob's Pillow, the mecca of dance, proposed a 60-piece exhibit for their summer season in 2014, a companion publication was essential for the thousands of visitors this national landmark attracts yearly.
